I don't have it on my phone, but I pop over there occasionally via my laptop. That seems to work - it's easier not to get immersed then, or see 99% of the wank that seems to fill it. I'm a kind of drive-by-tweeter!
There was a period of time when it was driving me nuts, making me think I was ~doing it wrong~ so I deleted it from my phone for a few days. Took a break from the desktop version, too. I do this every so often, or end up muting folks who are bugging me ... that way, there's no drama if I just don't want to see their tweets and I can focus on the people who just want to have fun in fandom.
I hope something like that can help! I know we don't talk much, but I highly respect what you bring to fandom with your knowledge and discussions. Hopefully you find a happy balance in the meantime! ♥
I'm enjoying my break from Twitter so far I have to say. Sometimes I take a peek, see some sort of fandom drama and it's enough to make me exit it pretty quickly. I think a break will be good. :)
