ash48MAN! What a day! The kids are freakin' feral. It's battle to get through the day with my sanity intact. I actually banged my head on the white board in frustration today. It was either that or shout SHUT THE FUCK UP! ::koff:: Needless to say, I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I do actually love my job. Most of the time.
Aaaaannway.....
There has been much condemnation of the episode, and rightly so. It's a bit of a downer though. I much prefer it when we are celebrating the show rather than condemning it. That's not to say we should celebrate bad eps. It's just a shame that there are bad eps. But hey. It's gotta happen every now and then I suppose. Luckily they are few and far between (for me anyway).
Speaking of which. I've been feeling...um...idk... guilty I suppose, for being joyous about Sam being tied up in the ep. I admit to having a "thing" for boys in peril. And I definitely have a "thing" for them being tied up. *g* This doesn't mean I approve of Becky's actions in the ep. That's a given yeah? Bit like reading noncon doesn't mean I condone it in any way, shape or form in rl. It's just..um.. escapism. Isn't it? *nods*
Ack! Far too heavy for a Tuesday night/morning. Ignore me.
Let's look at something more positive.

And I forgot to say earlier, I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stop thinking about the whole Becky schtick. I re-watched the ep the other day and you know, I think I can see where the writers went "Wouldn't it be great if all the fangirls could turn up to their highschool reunion with one of the boys on their arms and stick it to their old schoolmates?". But imo, if they'd changed the ep right after the potion started wearing off the first time and had Sam pop out of it, Becky be all sheepish and guilty and apologetic about just wanting to stick it to the bitchy girls and changed the angle to a case story in regards to tracking down the deaths I might have taken it better. I dunno...

Oh damn...any number of scenarios would have been better. If it hadn't been played for laughs the whole set up could have been really creepy...

Date: 2011-11-15 02:15 pm (UTC)But then I had my 9th graders and we watched Faith and the conversations we had around all the moral questions it raised was FANTASTIC! It also reminded me that Dean really is the one who seems quite okay with taking out morally reprehensible human beings and Sam is the one who insists they can't because they're human Dean! And yet oddly enough any human ever killed by the Winchester boys has only ever been killed by Sam. Why have they made it that way??? Dean wants to kill Roy, Dean wants to kill Papa Campbell, Dean wants to kill Jake, Dean wants to kill the hunters that shot him and Sam and yet Sam is the only one who has ever done any human killing. There's a message in that somewhere.
But I digress - yes Sam tied up is always a thing of beauty I must admit. I was certainly able to appreciate that completely separate to the offensive behaviour of Becky....and I instantly thought of you I must admit when I saw it! LOL!! I mentioned it to Tim - we never see Dean tied up like this or strung up and he also NEVER gets choked. Why? What does it all mean????

3rd para: ha! You thought of me!! :D And you know what?! I'm working on a "boys tied up" picspam and Dean has only been tied up twice if I recall right. Hunted and the Christmas one. Sam, on the other hand... well, too many times to count now. (::koff:: yay!)
Dean gets thrown around an awful lot and Sam gets choked and tied up. Oh and HIT ON THE HEAD! What's with that?!

Loving the visuals show gave us has absolutely nothing to do with loving the intention and actions behind them. Episode was a pile of poop and fresh poop pongs, especially when it seems to be pouring out of all orifices. Eventually though, you grow vegetables in it - just takes time. I'm trying to give it space while I calm the hell down and pretend it never happened but even that won't stop me admiring the good scenes when I feel like it.
Oh and thanks for the link, will be checking that out and I see from one of the comments there is a whole comm! Yipee! Will be monitoring that place...

My kids (a class of 25, all age 7 or so) were like a pack of starving wolves today. I don´t mind some energy in kids, but this was....madness.
I had to last for 6 hours - including P.E. - so i was done after that.

Date: 2011-11-15 07:33 pm (UTC)I don't identify that strongly with Becky as a character (she's alwyas been a 'crazy obsessive fan' rather than just 'a fan of the show') so her portrayal being off didn't bother me any more than some of the other characters who've been written inconsistently or unsympathically.
And about the kids....I think it's the time of the year, coming up to christmas. Most of my lot are going off the rails as well, I'm sailing from one drama to the next....

Since then, I totally got over it. I rewatched it in high definition on a big screen computer, paused in all the appropriate places, enjoyed the view and remembered my issues with the scene only afterwards. *facepalm*
Apparently, my id doesn't care that it was ~my avatar on the show~ who drugged and tied up Sam. And seriously, if I ever get a bondaged man in my bed, it would be totally consensual, so I'm pretty different from Becky. *proud smile followed by embarrassed giggles*
